Our team has recently completed the installation of six sectional doors at a large industrial development. For a facility of this kind, a solution was needed that could comfortably handle regular vehicle traffic while also delivering strong thermal performance and reliable day-to-day operation. With that in mind, we recommended the Hörmann SPU 67T double-skinned insulated door.
Each door was equipped with a Hörmann WA500FU single-phase operator, which will provide smooth and dependable movement throughout the working day. Emergency hand chain operation was also supplied to ensure that the doors could continue to be safely operated in the event of power failure.
We also incorporated two rows of quadruple-pane vision panels to improve visibility around busy loading and access areas - something that is crucial in ensuring safe working conditions in industrial environments where vehicles and pedestrians are working in close proximity.
One of the more technical elements of this project was the use of a high-lift track arrangement. Unlike doors that immediately follow the roofline, these doors will first travel vertically before transitioning back with the pitch of the roof.
By opting for this configuration, we were able to make full use of the internal clearance within the building and reduce the risk of conflict with any overhead services such as lighting, ductwork, suspended equipment and other infrastructure.

To further improve thermal performance, the doors were upgraded with Hörmann ThermoFrame technology.
ThermoFrame works by introducing a thermal break between the frame and the structure of the building. Doing so can help to improve the building’s insulation by as much as 20%, with each door achieving an overall U-value of 0.61w/m2K.
When combined with the insulated double-skinned construction of the doors, the result is an installation that provides both strong operational performance and energy efficiency. If you operate a building where heat retention and climate control are important, an upgrade of this kind can make a noticeable difference in the long term.
Alongside the installation of the sectional doors, our engineers also supplied and installed seven steel fire exit doors.
Fitted throughout the building, these doors were specified with a mineral wool infill construction and feature panic hardware to support safe emergency escape. Each door also included closers, kickplates, and aluminium thresholds to ensure a practical and durable finish.
All doors installed as part of the project were PPC finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. The colour choice complements the modern appearance of the facility while also providing a durable finish suited to long-term industrial use.
With over six decades of experience supplying and installing door systems across the East of England, our team can help you to find a solution that suits your building and operational requirements.
