Our Gates and Barriers team recently completed the installation of an automated aluminium cantilever gate and matching pedestrian gate at a residential property.
The project involved supplying and fitting both gates, carrying out the necessary groundworks and installing the automation and access control equipment. Finished in RAL 7038 Agate Grey, the gates provide a secure and convenient entrance while complementing the property’s traditional brick and flint boundary walls.
The main vehicle entrance features a 3,600mm wide aluminium cantilever gate, measuring 2,000mm at its highest point and 1,700mm at the shoulders.
The gate has a swan-neck design, with a gently curved top and vertical aluminium panelling. Its solid aluminium panelling provides privacy for the property, while the Agate Grey finish gives it a clean, modern appearance.
Cantilever gates are particularly useful for driveways where a traditional ground track would be impractical. Rather than running along a track embedded in the driveway, the gate is supported by a roller system and slides sideways across the entrance.
This keeps the driveway clear of tracks that could collect dirt, gravel and other debris, making the system well suited to this property’s gravelled surroundings.
For this installation, we fitted a FAAC column-integrated motor and control panel, allowing the gate to open and close automatically.
An induction loop allows vehicles to exit automatically, without the driver needing to operate a remote control or contact anyone inside the property.
For visitors, a Hikvision intercom provides a means of requesting access. The system also includes a manual keyswitch and two remote controls for opening the gate.
Safety measures were incorporated into the leading edges of the automated gate in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, helping to protect people and vehicles during operation.
Alongside the automated vehicle entrance, we installed a separate pedestrian gate, allowing people to enter and leave without opening the main gate.
Measuring 1,067mm wide and 1,700mm high, the aluminium pedestrian gate was designed to match the larger entrance, with the same swan-neck profile, vertical panelling and Agate Grey finish.
The pedestrian gate is secured by an electromagnetic lock, or maglock, wired into the property’s existing Hikvision access control system.
This provides a separate, controlled entrance for pedestrians while keeping the appearance consistent across both gates.
As part of the project, our team carried out the necessary groundworks, including laying concrete base pads to support the cantilever gate and its operating mechanism.
The installation also involved fitting the matching posts, FAAC automation equipment and access controls, before making the final electrical connections to the cabling already routed to the gate boundary. The Hikvision intercom was supplied and installed by our team, with programming undertaken by others.
The finished installation provides the property with two matching aluminium gates, combining automated vehicle access with a secure pedestrian entrance.
