Probe Oil Tools is a leading manufacturer of high-quality oilfield equipment and services. They have been in the industry for over 40 years and have a reputation for excellence and innovation. One of their recent projects involved installing a massive industrial door at their state of the art facility in Great Yarmouth, UK.
The project was undertaken in two sessions, with Cooks Doors providing the expertise, equipment and installation of the new door, as well as the removal of the old one.
First Visit
The first session involved removing the existing sliding folding doors with a crane. The doors were heavy and bulky. They had to be carefully detached from the chains and drive units, and lowered to the ground. The crane was operated by a qualified team from Cooks Doors, following the contract lift standards of BS7121. The old doors were left on site for disposal by Probe Oil Tools.
Second Visit
The second session involved installing the new Hormann Decotherm DD rolling shutter door. This door is designed for industrial applications, with a galvanised curtain, an extruded aluminium bottom profile and side guides, and a 400V 3 Ph electric direct drive operator. The door also has a low level emergency hand chain operation in case of power failure, and a pre-wired control unit with deadman control and protection category IP 65.
The new door was delivered to the site by Cooks Doors, along with a suitable scissor lift and teleporter. The installation team carefully lifted the door into position, aligned it with the structural opening, and secured it with bolts and brackets. The wiring and commissioning of the door was done by connecting it to the customer's 3ph low level isolator with neutral & Earth & 5 pin socket, fitted adjacent to the motor side of the doorway.
Enhanced Appearance and Functionality
The result was a stunning transformation of the workshop entrance, with a modern, sleek and secure door that enhances the appearance and functionality of the premises. The new door also provides better insulation, noise reduction and fire resistance than the old one.
