The Army Reserve Centre in Derby, a military facility that provides training and support for reservists and cadets, recently decided to upgrade its industrial doors. The centre contacted Cooks Doors, a leading supplier and installer of industrial doors in the UK, to carry out the project.
Precision Engineering
We supplied and installed four Hörmann SPU F42 double-skinned insulated sectional doors, which are designed with strength and security in mind, and to withstand high wind pressure. The doors also offer excellent sound insulation and thermal insulation, reducing noise and energy costs. They are made of galvanised steel with a stucco-textured surface and a horizontal ribbed pattern. The chosen internal colour of the doors is RAL 9002 Off White, and the external colour: RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. (Doors can be powder coated in your chosen colours).
Power Operation
The doors are equipped with power operation, which allows the users to open and close them with a push of a button. The doors have a self-monitoring closing edge safety device using opto sensors, which prevents accidents and injuries. The doors also have an emergency hand chain operation in case of power failure, which ensures that the doors can be opened manually. The doors are controlled by a pre-wired control unit with impulse control, which is connected to a low level 1-phase isolator with neutral & earth and a 16-Amp 3-pin socket provided by the customer.
Clear Vision
The doors also feature a row of fully glazed aluminium framed vision windows with clear double pane synthetic infills, which provide natural light and visibility. The windows are aligned with the panel depth of the doors, which is 750/625mm.
Cooks Doors supplied and installed four Hörmann SPU F42 sectional doors for the Army Reserve Centre in Derby, according to the following specifications:
For these last two doors, we added two matching NT60R side doors built from the same insulated panels as the sectional overhead doors (i.e. double skinned and insulated and within aluminium frames). These side doors have the same external colour as the sectional doors and feature internal panic bars, external lever handles with half cylinder override, surface mounted door closers, matching vision windows and over panels. The side doors are designed to suit structural openings of 1264 mm wide x 5750 mm high.
The installation was completed within the agreed time frame and budget, and the customer was very satisfied with the result. The new industrial doors have enhanced the security, insulation and appearance of the Army Reserve Centre in Derby, making it a more efficient place for the reservists who work there..
