Installation: Hormann Industrial Roller Shutter Door at RAF Bentwaters

Posted on 29/11/2016

Last week we took a trip into rural Suffolk to fit a large door at what the locals still call RAF Bentwaters. The site is no longer used by the Royal Air Force. The renamed Bentwaters Parks is now a Cold war Museum and a media centre for TV and Film production. One of the hangars had an old ‘Hi-Fold’ door and track system. Our job was to remove this and replace it with a Hormann industrial roller shutter door.

The Right Door for The Job

Buildings like the hangar at Bentwaters often have large openings to allow the easy movement of bulky equipment (and lightweight aircraft). We recommended the Hormann HR116 coil-coated double skinned roller shutter door as being perfect for the job. This aluminium door is tall and strong and ideal for securing structural openings in large buildings. The final installation was 11750x4680mm (That’s nearly 12 metres wide by nearly 5 metres high).

Safety Specifications

All the doors we install comply with the relevant European Union safety specifications. In this instance: BS EN 12604 (mechanical aspects) and BS EN 12453 (requirements for safety in use of power operated doors). The doors have a 3rd Party Certification by a recognized testing authority.

Do you have a large structural opening with a door that has seen better days? Don’t let an old door become a safety hazard. Install a modern powered industrial roller door. Call Cooks Industrial Doors and we will send an engineer to your premises to make an assessment and give you a full quotation. Call us on 0800 0180304 to make an appointment.
