The existing door at this business did not meet the requirements of BS EN 12604, which is a European standard that specifies the mechanical aspects of industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates. This standard covers the safety, performance, durability and testing of these products, as well as the protection against hazards such as crushing, shearing, impact and falling.

The door is manually operated by a hand chain gear assembly with an anti-fall back device to comply with BS EN 12604. The device prevents the door from falling in case of a failure in the suspension system. The door also has a padlockable hand chain for security.
