A Smooth Finish: Recent Installation of Industrial Roller Shutter Doors

What We Did

We recently completed a job supplying and installing three power-operated, insulated roller shutter doors for a client’s industrial facility. All three doors were installed to the external face of the building, offering a combination of strength, insulation and convenience.

Here’s what we delivered:

• 2 large shutters - each 5500mm wide x 5600mm high
• 1 smaller shutter - 3500mm x 3850mm high
• 3 rows of visions panels in each - adding visibility and a smart look

Built to Last

The shutter curtains were made with 95mm twin-skin insulated lath, offering great insulation - roughly 3.3 W/m²K - to help the building stay energy efficient. With a galvanised steel finish, they’re built to handle the elements while keeping a clean, professional appearance.

To boost weather protection and cut down on heat loss, we also installed a top brush seal set into an aluminium carrier along the top of each door opening.

The coil assemblies and barrel sizes were calculated to match each opening, so the shutters open and close smoothly. 82mm wind guides and 100 x 50mm angle side guides add extra strength where it counts, especially in more exposed locations.

Easy, Reliable Operation

We used GfA Safe Drive Motors for smooth and safe operation, controlled by TS959 panels with simple up/down/stop push buttons inside the building. And if there’s ever a power cut? There’s a manual override to keep things moving.

All wiring was safely connected to the client’s 3-phase, 16-amp, 5-pin socket (with neutral and earth), installed at a handy height of 1300mm from the floor.

By the end of the job, the client had:

• Three durable, good-looking roller shutter doors
• Better thermal performance to help cut energy loss
• Easy-to-use motorised controls
• A solid long-term solution tailored to their space
