The site of USAF Bentwaters has been turned into a state-of-the-art film and television production facility in recent years, and Cooks Doors were pleased to assist in the refurbishment of a particularly spectacular building on site.
The Hush House is a cavernous building, once used for testing jet engines and now the location for films, tv programmes and music videos. We were commissioned to supply and install seven large Hormann industrial roller shutter doors to suit the specific needs of the impressive building, including one door to fit the entrance to an exhaust tunnel – with a structural opening of over 6metres wide and tall.
The filming location is used by many people for a diverse range of projects, so we ensured that the doors installed were as practical, simple to operate and unobtrusive as possible. The seven doors were all supplied in ultra-durable galvanised steel with power operation and manual control in case of a power failure. Built in safety features include prevention of persons being lifted and torque control, and compliance with BS EN 12604 (mechanical aspects) and BS EN 12453 (requirements for safety in use of power operated doors) with 3rd party certification by recognised testing authority.
The Hormann Decotherm DD rolling shutter doors provide excellent thermal insulation, with double skinned curtain and bottom profiles with foam core, and an innovative hinge that protects against dust and wet.
The doors supplied in this installation were to suit structural openings of 6100mm wide x 6400mm high for the tunnel entrance, and six of 1580mm wide x 3710mm high. Our experienced teams are able to supply and install roller shutters of up to 36 metres in width and 9 metres in height using Hormann products.
